Really its not that difficult to get inJul 08 2006Biology
Really its not that difficult to get in. Though, if you'd like a scholarship you have to do well on your SAT's (old ones: 1360+) and keep an above at least 92 gpa in high school.
SAT: 1420 Male
I got in on the strength of my verbalAug 28 2005Philosophy
I got in on the strength of my verbal SAT score alone: 730.
No essay or anything other than HS grades and SAT's required.
SAT: 1290 Male
Since my plan is to go into the medicalDec 12 2004Biology
Since my plan is to go into the medical field, I've been apart of many different science/medical programs throught HS. By getting involved in activities that reflect what your are interested about, schools will see that you are serious about persuing something in that direction. And as always, grades are a big thing. All long as you show that you've tried hard to stay in average range and still have time for your extracirricular activities, the university will take that into account and will consider you.
ACT: 21 SAT: 1160 Female
I submitted a simple application and was acceptedNov 26 2004Philosophy
I submitted a simple application and was accepted. If you're out of state and have good grades and over a 1250 SAT, you'll get into the honors college. Why? Because most out of state people have the same reaction as I did (this coming from the former director of the honors college).
ACT: 29 SAT: 1340 Male
When I applied, all I had to do wasApr 22 2004Political Science
When I applied, all I had to do was send in the SUNY-wide application and my transcript, but now there's a supplemental application with an essay and letters of recommendation. There's also an honors college, which has a separate application of its own.

It's a fairly competitive school but at times it seems like a lot of people here don't belong in college. Having said that, I think the average SAT score is in the mid-1100's. I'm not sure what the average GPA is, but it's around a solid B+ if I'm not mistaken. Over here, you get a lot of people who had Stony as their first-choice school, just as many applied to it as a "safety" school but ended up here for one reason or another.
SAT: 1360 Male
